Amy Barickman is a leader in the home arts, sewing and craft pattern design industry.  She founded Indygo Junction in 1990 to publish and market books and patterns designed by fresh, new talent.  Amy’s vision for anticipating popular trends has led her to discover artists and guide them to create innovative materials and tools. Amy has identified and marketed more than 25 designers and published 700 pattern titles and 70 books, sold nationally.  She inspires countless crafters to explore their own creative spirit and experiment with the newest sewing, fabric and crafting techniques.

With her keen eye for new market opportunities, Amy spotted the emerging vintage art movement and collected an impressive archive of vintage ephemera.  As technology improved, she envisioned what crafters could do with their home computer and printer.  She founded The Vintage Workshop in 2002 to create products that allow crafters access to timeless vintage artwork.  Her digitized vintage designs are available to download from her website (www.vintageworkshop.com) and on CD.

Amy’s work has been featured in several magazines, including the recent honor of being named one of Country Living magazine’s prestigious Women Entrepreneurs.  She has made television appearances on HGTV, America Quilts, and Sewing with Nancy. She has published books with C&T Publishing and Martingale.  Amy’s best-selling titles include Button Ware, Denim Redesign, Indygo Junction’s Needle Felting and THE SEW-IT BOOK.

  She earned a degree in art and design from the University of Kansas.
